Q. What exactly are bed bugs?
A. Bed bugs are parasites that prefer to feed on human blood.

Q. Where do they congregate?
A. Bed bugs collect in mattresses – especially tufts, folds and seams – box springs, headboards, walls, floors, carpeting and baseboards.

Q. How do bed bugs get in my home?
A. Bed bugs can be carried on furniture, clothing, backpacks and other cloth or fabric surfaces. They can also travel from room to room along pipes and electrical wiring.

Q. How can I tell if I have bed bugs?
A. Look for dark brown or reddish spots on bedding, mattresses or surfaces near the bed. If the room is heavily infested, there may be a coriander-like odor present.

Q. Are glue traps effective against bed bugs?
A. No. They tend to hide in cracks and crevices where glue traps are not effective.

Not everything that’s bad for you bites …

They don’t bite like bed bugs, and you can’t even see them with the naked eye, but when it comes to dust mites, what you can’t see can hurt you.

Dust mites are estimated to be a factor in 50% to 80% of asthma, eczema, hay fever and other allergic ailments.

Dust mites live in your mattress, bedding and carpets, where they feed off dead human skin. They multiply fast too, so fast in fact that their droppings and shed skin double the average mattress’ weight every 10 years.

Q. Do dust mites bite?
A. No, but they feed on dead human skin, which accumulates in bedding and around sleeping areas.

Q. How do dust mites cause allergies?
A. They produce allergens, which are easily inhaled during sleep.

Q. What sort of symptoms do dust mite allergies cause?
A. Symptoms can range from sneezing, itching, watery eyes and wheezing to rashes around the neck, headaches, fatigue and depression.

Q. How do I know if dust mites are present in my home?
A. Dust mites are so common that they show up in virtually every test. The better question is, "How do I get rid of them?"

 

BBC will offer the following service per bed:

 

1. Vacuum under and all around each bed, including the top and bottom of the mattress and box spring (this will involve moving the bed away from the wall.)
2. Spray the floor (under bed), both sides of box spring and mattress with "Good Night" from Sprayway; Good Night is registered with the United States Environmental Protection Agency.
3. Wash, dry and re-make all *linens including the bed skirt and mattress pad (we will do this at location.)
